How Far Do I Shoot?

Shooting distances are determined by age division; whether the shoot is indoor or outdoor; sponsoring organization (USA Archery or NFAA); and sometimes equipment class.

Indoor events #

All participants at indoor events shoot the same distance. It’s 18 meters for USA Archery events and 20 yards (18.3 m) for NFAA.

Outdoor events (USA Archery) #

USA Archery event distances vary by age division and equipment class. Athletes may shoot up into higher age divisions, but not the other direction. Seniors (adults) may not shoot up into the Master divisions. These distances are for competitions and do not necessarily apply to official pin shoots. Each archer, in partnership with a coach, will determine what distance is most appropriate for them for any specific pin shoot.
